Do you like the sport of football? On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you know about the sport? No matter your answer to that question, this article is going to help you with some things. You can always benefit from new advice, and becoming the best player you can be is what it’s all about.

Discover your best talent in football and focus on that, rather than trying too hard to be a superstar player. Coaches need specific plays and players, not fancy show-offs. Practice and perfect your best drills and make sure you can participate with those exact moves when the coach and team needs you most.

Safety is the first and foremost concern that you have in the game of football. Dangerous injuries are possible if you are not careful. Wear seat belts when driving and protective gear when working out.

Always work on increasing your agility. Football requires great agility. They must not get tackled and make great catches. You can improve your agility with tire running drills and jumping rope.

Even if you don’t like someone on your team, you have to get along with everyone on your team for the sake of your team’s success. If you are found to be argumentative or a trouble starter, you are the one who is going to be kicked off the team. Play nice and get along.

When working on improving yourself as a football player, keep in mind that the only thing you really can’t change is your height. You can change your diet to lose or gain weight, and train to build your muscles up. You can also work with a trainer to increase your speed and skill. If anything, height should be your only handicap.

Be sure to make plenty of time to practice your football playing skills. The more time you spend practicing the better your skills will become. As you have likely heard many times in your life, practice makes perfect. If you want to be the best you need to put in the time.

There are many techniques to learn when it comes to football. You can make up for lack of speed or strength with agility or quick reflexes. You may not always have what it physically takes so you need to be mentally prepared as well.

Use interval sprint training to really boost your stamina. Sprint for 30 seconds, then rest for 1 minute. Sprint and rest again. Keep repeating this until you can not physically spring anymore that day. Record your total number of sprints for that day, and aim to beat it by one the next day. Most days you won’t, but you will slowly edge that number up.

A good football tip is to show appreciation to your offensive and defensive linemen. These are the unsung heroes of the game and allow the “stars” the opportunity to make the plays they do. Without a great center, the quarterback would have a harder time, and a poor offensive line will get you sacked quite often.

Warm up well prior to playing, practicing, or working out. When you are hurt, you might be sidelined for a long time, possibly all time. Build your strength with muscle-building exercises, but remember to stretch first.

If you start feeling sick or just “not right”, get off of the football field immediately. Even if it isn’t physical, the fact that you aren’t quite yourself can lead to a serious accident if you aren’t careful. It may mean that you sit out for 10 minutes or more (maybe even the game), but your health is well worth it.

Shoulder pads are an essential part of a football player’s protective wear. Before entering the field, be sure they fit properly. They shouldn’t move and should be strong. You don’t need to get hit causing them to break when playing since it can injure you more.

When playing, look for dehydration signs. One that is an easy one to spot is the color of your urine. If it’s a darker color then you are more than likely suffering from dehydration right then. You’ll need to take immediate action. Drink water asap, and make sure you keep hydrated from then on out.

Play the position that works to your personal strengths. If you strong, fast and good at catching a football thrown from different angles, play safety or wide receiver. If your body is bulky and you have a lot of strength, play defensive or offensive tackle. If your good at kicking the ball with accuracy, you may be the perfect field goal kicker or punter.

How do you feel now that you’ve had a chance to review the information in this article? You surely are now motivated to get out there on the football field to play. Remember to always practice and search for more helpful knowledge so that you can continue to improve your game.
